About us

The Mental Health Legal Centre (MHLC), established in 1987, provides a free and confidential legal service to anyone who has experienced mental illness in Victoria where their legal problem relates to their mental illness.
All centre activities aim to promote the rights of people who experience mental illness.
The Centre is a non-profit organisation run by an independent Board of Governance.
The MHLC is part of a network of Community Legal Centres located throughout Victoria and Australia. Community Legal Centres provide a three-tiered approach to the law, through casework, community legal education and law reform/policy.
How you can help
Donec sagittis sagittis vestibulum. Morbi vestibulum neque.
The Mental Health Legal Centre runs a telephone legal advice line on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 6:00pm and 8:00pm. We rely on volunteer solicitors to run this service.
Your donation will enable the MHLC to continue its critical work in assisting and supporting people with mental illness through independent specialist legal advice and representation, education and systemic advocacy.
Non of MHLC’s services would be possible without the support and resources we receive from our funders and stakeholders.
